Do you use bounce houses or other inflatable structures as an amusement for kids at outdoor public events or personal birthday parties?  If so, you should read this.  Jason Samenow of the Washington Post published an article today on the dangers caused by bounce houses after the death of a 7-year-old girl in the U. K. this week.  Research by Dr. John Knox of UGA (my husband) shows that these inflatables can be lofted by sudden winds of 20-30 miles per hour if they are not anchored, causing injuries and death to both those inside the bounce houses and passers-by.  You can read the article at https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather-gang/wp/2016/03/28/uk-bounce-house-death-casts-light-on-dangers-of-inflatable-structures-and-wind/.  They can also cause problems with abrasions and overheating due to high inside temperatures.
