Spring snowstorms can be among the most costly to cattle producers because in many areas of the country, that is when calving occurs.  AgWeb published a story yesterday warning that a snowstorm that is forecast to hit Wyoming in the next few days may severely impact cattle producers in the area due to the number of new calves that may be caught in the heavy snow and cold temperatures.  Snow amounts up to 20 inches are predicted in some areas.

Elsewhere in Oklahoma and Kansas, a huge wildfire on land that is primarily used for grazing has caused the loss of 600 head of cattle in Oklahoma alone.  You can read more about the impacts of the Anderson Creek wildfire here from AgWeb.
