While we’ve been dry here in the Southeast for the last month, areas farther to the west have seen massive rain and flooding.  This has caused a number of problems for livestock producers across the area.  This article from AgWeb describes problems in Arkansas with diminished hay and increased disease, including an increase in “hardware disease” caused by ingestion of flood-borne storm debris which can damage grazing animals.

What can you do to prepare for flooding?  This article from David Smith at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension provides some helpful information.  Another good source of information is https://www.agriculture.ny.gov/ai/livestock_disaster_guide.pdf.
