The Atlantic tropical storm season officially starts on June 1.  However, this year the unofficial season may start a little earlier than usual if model predictions hold true.  The models show the potential for an extratropical storm to form on an old frontal boundary over the Bahamas which could drift north to North Carolina over the next few days.

This early in the season there is a lot of uncertainty about the strength and development potential of the storm, but it is worth watching, especially if you are along the coast and worried about waves or in North or South Carolina, where it may cause rainy conditions.  You can read more at the Weather Underground blog here.
