We’re about halfway through March, and so far for the month the Southeast has been warmer and drier than normal across almost the entire region.  The warmth has been especially strong in Florida and southern Georgia.  Dry conditions in southern Alabama have contributed to the continuing drought there.  Generally the coolest temperatures have corresponded with the areas with widespread rain and cloudiness.

The maps below from the High Plains Regional Climate Center show the distribution of temperature and precipitation departures for the month to date.  For the rest of March, temperatures should be a little warmer than usual, particularly in the next week and in southern Florida, and precipitation chances are expected to go up in southern Alabama and Georgia and Florida.
