Preliminary analysis of the Georgia climate for February 2014 shows that the temperature for the month should end up near 43 degrees Fahrenheit for the month.  That would make it approximately six degrees below the average for 1981-2010 (the current “normal” period).  This would be the second coldest February since the frigid February of 1978.  The coldest February in recent years was in 2010.

Precipitation for the state as a whole appears to be slightly above normal, but there was quite a bit of variation from north to south.  I’ll provide an update once the final numbers come in.
