Yahoo News published a story this week on new estimates of global sea level rise based on a paper published yesterday in Nature.  The new research shows that since 1990 sea levels are rising 2.5 times faster than in the time period 1900-1990.  This is a concern to people living along coastlines because assuming that sea level will change at the same rate as the historical record will underestimate the rate of flooding and infrastructure damage along the coasts.  You can read the Yahoo article here and the abstract of the Nature article here.
