The National Climatic Data Center reported that the US as a whole experienced its 9th wettest summer on record (1895 to present) and drought decreased to 33 percent of the continguous area.  For the same time period, however, Georgia experienced its 10th driest summer with only 73 percent of normal rainfall, and drought expanded to cover 25 percent of the state.  Here are a couple of NOAA graphics to show climate highlights across the country for August and the summer.
