UGA Geography professor Dr. Marshall Shepherd is hosting a new Sunday morning talk show on The Weather Channel called “Weather Geeks” (or WxGeeks).  This show airs at noon and lasts for 30 minutes with breaks for “Weather on the 8s.”  This show is designed to talk about the science of weather and climate at a higher level than science is usually discussed on the news.  The first episode guest starred Dr. Chuck Doswell discussing the pros and cons of storm chasing, and the second episode featured discussions on weather in social media and the myth of the polar vortex in summer.  The next episode, which airs on August 3, will feature how seasonal hurricane forecasts are made and how useful they are.  So far there are no archived copies available for later viewing.  The show’s Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/WXGeeksTWC and their Twitter handle is @WxGeeks.  There is a blog at https://medium.com/@WXGeeksTWC/
