{"id":49,"date":"2023-03-28T17:11:04","date_gmt":"2023-03-28T21:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/camden4h\/?p=49"},"modified":"2023-03-28T17:11:07","modified_gmt":"2023-03-28T21:11:07","slug":"2023-district-project-achievement-total-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/camden4h\/2023\/03\/2023-district-project-achievement-total-success\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 District Project Achievement &#8211; Total Success!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"601\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/camden4h\/files\/2022\/11\/image.png\" alt=\"4-H Newsletter from Camden County\" class=\"wp-image-11\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/camden4h\/files\/2022\/11\/image.png 601w, https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/camden4h\/files\/2022\/11\/image-300x211.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>50 Camden County 4-H\u2019ers in 5<sup>th<\/sup>-10<sup>th<\/sup> grades competed in Georgia 4-H\u2019s annual District Project Achievement contests.&nbsp; Four Senior 4-H\u2019ers (grades 9-12) competed at Rock Eagle on February 4 and 46 Cloverleaf 4-H\u2019ers (grades 5 &amp; 6) competed in Bacon County on March 18<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Camden teams excelled at both events.\u00a0 Madison McDonald, a 9<sup>th<\/sup> grader from St. Marys, won 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in her project area at the District Junior Project Achievement event with a one-hour cooking demonstration and will advance to the state competition this summer to compete against the winners from the three other Georgia 4-H districts. Naomi Anderson, a 9<sup>th<\/sup> grader from St. Marys won 2<sup>nd<\/sup> in her project area with an entry in the Art category. Megan McDonald (10<sup>th<\/sup>, St. Marys) and Isaac Sahadeo (9<sup>th<\/sup>, Kingsland) both received honorable mention in their categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cloverleaf 4-H\u2019ers also outdid themselves at their district competition.&nbsp; Five 6<sup>th<\/sup> graders attended this event and all placed in their project areas: Carter Ellis (3<sup>rd<\/sup>), Ally Madden (2<sup>nd<\/sup>), Colton Port (1<sup>st<\/sup>), Kaden Joseph-Roddenberry (1<sup>st<\/sup>), and Elisabeth Sepulveda-Nieves (1<sup>st<\/sup>).&nbsp; Of the 41 5<sup>th<\/sup> grader in attendance, 8 received 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in their project areas, 11 placed 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, 12 placed 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, and 10 received honorable mention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgia 4-H Project Achievement empowers young people with skills for a lifetime. Students choose a project area of interest, research the topic, and write and present a presentation. 4-H\u2019ers develop leadership, creativity, public speaking, record keeping, and other skills. As students become older, a record keeping component that promotes independent thinking, research and implementation is added.&nbsp; The participants in this program gained valuable life experience and were able to learn and practice skills that will help them as they go forward in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Camden County 4-H would like to thank all of the teachers, parents, sponsors, and volunteers who supported our efforts to \u201cMake the Best Better\u201d through funding, recruiting, coaching, and chaperoning these events.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>List of 5<sup>th<\/sup> Grade
