We are looking for help for our favorite holiday community service, Library Lights! We are looking for adult volunteers and 4-H’ers in 6th grades and up to help create our props and costumes, and to become a character in “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” for our scene. Camden Suicide Prevention “Walk to Remember” 4K Event – 11/22/25
Camden Suicide Prevention Group is hosting a “Walk to Remember” 4K at the Woodbine Walkway this Saturday (November 22) from 9-11:30 am. This is a great cause to support, and if you are doing DPA, a great addition to the “Community Service & Civic Engagement” portion of your portfolio! If you want to walk with our 4-H group, please email me at ssahadeo@uga.edu and plan to be at the Riverwalk by 8:45 on Saturday morning. Wear teal/purple if you have it.
Teen Leader Training Level 1 – 7th-12th Graders – 11/24/25
For anyone needing Teen Leader Level 1 training (open to 7th-12th grade 4-H’ers who plan to help with events), we will be doing a certification on Nov. 24th, 1-5m at our office in Woodbine. Cost is $10 to cover name tag. Upon completion, you can also purchase a teen leader shirt for $16–limited sizes available. Email ssahadeo@uga.edu to sign up.
Fall Forum at Rock Eagle – 9th-12th Graders – 12/12-14/25
Attention 4-H’ers in 9th-12th grades! Sign up for Fall Forum at Rock Eagle by November 24th!
Things to know:
- Dates: December 12-14. We would leave around 4pm on the 12th and return around 6pm on the 14th.
- Cost: $125 covers transportation, lodging, and 4 meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. You would need to bring money for meals on Friday (dinner) and Sunday (lunch). If you need assistance to cover costs, please let me know—we may have a few partial scholarships available.
- To Register: Email Shawnie or stop by the office for forms. They are also posted in our Google classroom. Return completed form (BOTH sides) and $125 cash or check to me or the office on or before Nov. 24.
Other details:
- Tentative schedule and teen leader applications are attached are available in Google classroom for members of that OR you can request a copy by emailing Ms. Shawnie.
- If you want to get Teen Leader level 2 certified (to help with camp), you can also do that as one of your classes. Just let me know if you want to do that. We will also hold a Level 2 Certification closer to camp, probably in May. (Please note that teen leaders for camp are chosen on merit only. You must be approved by me to attend camp as a teen leader—just being level 2 certified does NOT guarantee you will attend camp.)
- Note on Teen Leaders: We are seeking certified teen leaders to serve in various leadership roles, such as workshop instructors, community service leaders, or recreation leaders. Not only are they key to helping make Fall Forum a success, but they are also an excellent portfolio opportunity for high school-aged 4-H’ers! Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, teen leaders may only apply for one teen leader opportunity. Additionally, with scheduling conflicting with rehearsals, Clovers & Co. members and State Officers cannot apply.
- We may be traveling with some students from Bacon County. If they have kids that need transportation, we will pick them up on the way up and drop them off on the way back.
