**Reminder**Jenkins County 2017 Production Meetings


Fertility and Irrigation Management for Corn and major row crops–Wednesday, February 15, 12:00 Jenkins County Ag Center. 

Dr. Glen Harris and Dr. Wes Porter will present information on fertility and irrigation management.  While a good portion of the data will be geared toward corn, these specialists will be presenting data on other major row crops as well in their respective areas.

Handling Pesticides Safely— Tuesday, February 21, 9:00 Jenkins County Ag Center                                                                                                                                                 

As we see changes on the horizon, it is important for those handling, mixing and spraying chemicals to be properly trained.  Dr. Milton Taylor, UGA Pesticide Safety Education Program Coordinator, will be presenting the following topics “Personal Protective Equipment,” “Interpreting Pesticide Labels,” and “Pesticides in the Environment.”  This is an opportunity to be sure employees and managers are properly trained.

Pecan— Tuesday, February 28, 12:00 Jenkins County Ag Center                                                                                                                                                                               

Dr. Lenny Wells, Dr. Will Hudson and Jason Brock will present at this meeting.  Some of the topics covered will be pecan varieties, production practices, insects and diseases.

 Weed Control—Friday, March 3, 12:00, Jenkins County Ag Center                                                                                                                                                                                 

Each year we have the battle of weed control in our row crop fields.  This year we will have a meeting just for weed control and management.  Dr. Eric Prostko and Dr. Stanley Culpepper will be giving the results of their latest research and will be discussing the new technologies being released.
