After taking a look under the microscope with one of Burke County’s growers, and discussing with Dr. Kemerait – we have\u00a0confirmed\u00a0that Southern Rust is in Burke County.<\/p>\n

Again, Southern Corn Rust pustules appear primarily on the top side of the leaf!\u00a0 They are round and more dense than Common Rust.<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Kemerait, corn at hard dough\/dent stage is past the point of needing a fungicide.\u00a0 Corn still at milk stage or younger could possibly benefit.\u00a0 Be sure to scout regularly!<\/p>\n
