{"id":38,"date":"2018-07-11T10:07:31","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T14:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/burkeag\/?p=38"},"modified":"2018-11-08T16:19:57","modified_gmt":"2018-11-08T21:19:57","slug":"soil-mositure-in-cover-crops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/burkeag\/soil-mositure-in-cover-crops\/","title":{"rendered":"Soil Moisture in Cover Crops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UGA Extension Agricultural Water Efficiency Team has partnered with Trellis to conduct a soil moisture and irrigation program &#8211; the goal for this project is to help local growers learn ways to conserve water and apply water more effectively as well as efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>Last year Burke County Participated in the AgWet Cotton Program.\u00a0 This year we are excited to not only continue our efforts as part of the Cotton Program, but also the AgWet Peanut Program as well as incorporate soil moisture sensors in a Long Term Cover Crop\u00a0Study located at the Southeast Research and Education Center in Midville, GA.\u00a0 Trellis has worked with Burke, Jefferson and Jenkins County agents to install moisture sensors in the trial where a grain corn crop has been planted.
