Water is not made equal… Do not make the mistake that the pH of the water at all of your wells are the same. I had a discussion with a grower of how Valor is effective when mixed from one well but not another well. Check your pH of your wells and use a water conditioner as needed.

Not all glyphosates mix the same. Glyphosate has K-Salt and IPA-Salt formulations. Different formulations can cause less effectiveness on grass issues. Here you will find a picture of what you do NOT want to do, provided by Dr. Prostko.

Valor in Peanut-

UGA does NOT recommend applying Valor PPI (pre-plant incorporated) in peanuts. Valor PPI is 25-35% less effective than when applied as a pre-emergent behind the planter. Do not incorporate Valor.

START CLEAN- Many growers “shoot their self in the foot” by not starting clean. Your burndown program is CRUCIAL. Many factors play into whether or not your burndown will be successful, including application rate, size of the weeds, or too cold (Say What?) In the chance you are applying glyphosate when the low temperature is below 50 degrees, effectiveness is reduced. If that’s the case, applying ammonium sulfate with glyphosate has the potential to increase effectiveness.

Online Answers- Remember, information you find via Google/AI assistants other online forums is not always correct. Information that county extension agents give you is coming from research-based sources in Georgia that can be replicated to give the same results.

As always give Cliff or Peyton a call with questions.
