A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

After taking a look under the microscope with one of Burke County’s growers, and discussing with Dr. Kemerait – we have confirmed that Southern Rust is in Burke County.

Again, Southern Corn Rust pustules appear primarily on the top side of the leaf!  They are round and more dense than Common Rust.

According to Dr. Kemerait, corn at hard dough/dent stage is past the point of needing a fungicide.  Corn still at milk stage or younger could possibly benefit.  Be sure to scout regularly!

If you have any questions concerning fungicides or would like Peyton or I to come take a look, please give us a call!
