I found Southern Corn Rust in the Bulloch County Corn Rust Sentinel Plot located on Greg Sikes Farm today (July 8).  Southern corn rust has been slow to move and has not exploded throughout the state this year. Most of the corn is at least at the dent stage and should be fine from now to maturity. For those of you that have some later planted corn in the milk or dough stage it MAY benefit from a fungicide application. If your corn is at blister stage or earlier, it should be protected with a fungicide.
