{"id":825,"date":"2022-03-23T12:47:42","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T16:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/benhillcoag\/?p=825"},"modified":"2022-03-23T12:47:43","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T16:47:43","slug":"preplant-burndown-update-prostko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/benhillcoag\/2022\/03\/preplant-burndown-update-prostko\/","title":{"rendered":"Preplant Burndown Update (Prostko)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some responses to a few common questions this week about preplant burndowns:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1)\u00a0 What is the plant-back restriction for field corn following an application of 2,4-D?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plant-back restrictions for field corn after a burndown application of 2,4-D are 7 days (16 oz\/A) or 10-14 days (&gt;16 oz\/A)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2) If a grower cannot wait to plant field corn in 7-14 days after an application of 2,4-D, what other burndown options are available?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roundup (glyphosate) or Gramoxone** (paraquat) + Atrazine 4L (32 oz\/A) is my first choice.&nbsp; There are no field corn plant-back restriction for these treatments.&nbsp; Check out the following picture from my burndown plots yesterday in a Tift Co. growers&#8217; field (<em>many thanks to Justin H. and Regan V.<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/a\/AVvXsEhE5n0Pvdi6X-ZrUBRWSwhJZBJ4ycZJ3AIYQvmYH1m3T2EYE6etCk6-cFEu39dWmzHFX7xY54bCwKSBbkh86JVYdn4H09wLz3sx5-sZzsJWzYuqEZ4iFrADnZY2EtIlw0tVyBSTD_x5hRtYQcgM1-vQZucOdbiCJb0oYd7V6YaxnnduxSEEBA4sK-N8=s960\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/a\/AVvXsEhE5n0Pvdi6X-ZrUBRWSwhJZBJ4ycZJ3AIYQvmYH1m3T2EYE6etCk6-cFEu39dWmzHFX7xY54bCwKSBbkh86JVYdn4H09wLz3sx5-sZzsJWzYuqEZ4iFrADnZY2EtIlw0tVyBSTD_x5hRtYQcgM1-vQZucOdbiCJb0oYd7V6YaxnnduxSEEBA4sK-N8=w640-h480\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3) What&#8217;s the best option for controlling a failed stand of field corn?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been my experience that the best option for controlling a failed stand of field corn is to use Select Max 0.97EC (<em>or other equivalent formulations<\/em>) @ 6 oz\/A + NIS.
