  1. The most common question after these large rain events is\u00a0have I lost all of my cotton fertilizer, and\u00a0will I have to start over? UGA Extension Soil Scientist Dr. Glen Harris has provided some information on this topic:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    May planted cotton could have lost some pre-plant Nitrogen and Sulfur. What should we do?\u00a0Consider early sidedress<\/strong>\u00a0AND\u00a0add 10 to 20 pounds of Nitrogen per acre<\/strong>\u00a0if rain fall was enough to leach fertilizer. Also,\u00a0add sulfur to sidedress nitrogen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Every field will have a different soil type. A lot of fields have long rows with many different soil types in the same row.<\/p>\n

    Listed below are some general time tested truths about leachable soil fertilizer nutrients:<\/p>\n

    • Most leachable nutrients are Nitrogen, Sulfur and Boron.<\/li>\n
    • Potassium is not as mobile as Nitrogen.<\/li>\n
    • Phosphorus is immobile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      2. What is the official timing window for sidedressing cotton ?\u00a0First Square to First Bloom. We want \u00bc to 1\/3 N at planting and remainder at Side-dress.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Emphasis = Nitrogen,\u00a0Potassium and Boron \u2013 During \u201cPeak Bloom\u201d (1st\u00a0<\/sup>to 4TH<\/sup>\u00a0 week of Bloom)<\/p>\n

      What is best foliar products to use:<\/p>\n

      • Feed Grade Urea for nitrogen,<\/li>\n
      • Potassium Nitrate for Potassium,<\/li>\n
      • Solubor or \u201c10% Liquid\u201d for Boron.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
