Our winter forage has been negatively effected by weather this year. We had another 2 inches of rain this week. This year has been very wet and it has been hard to get anything done. Most winter forage that was planted either never emerged or has struggled with saturated roots and loss of fertility all winter.  As rain continues, we lose our soil mobile fertilizer. Nitrogen is definitely lost and some potassium. (Potassium IS soil mobile but not as much as N.) UGA Extension Forage Specialist Dr. Dennis Hancock on Hey Feeding, Pasture Recovery and Winter N Fertilization:
