Bacon County Ag Update

Beginning Farmer Workshops

The Farm Again Program (Dr. Glen Rains and Rebecca Brightwell) have a USDA grant that is providing a series of workshops in Tifton. The first workshop is a practical guide to USDA loans and programs.   It will be held 2/28 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  on the UGA Tifton Campus.  The workshop is geared to new and beginning farmers but farmers of all experience levels are welcome. During the morning we will review the different programs available.  After lunch we will have an interactive farmers panel.  Farmers who have successfully applied to different USDA programs will explain the process they went through and how they used the funds.  Participants will also learn about top reasons loans are denied and strategies to be  successful.  At the end of the day there will be an interactive question and answer session.
