While the incidence appears to be\u00a0localized, recent weather\u00a0patterns observed in the southern US can contribute\u00a0to the dispersal and establishment of the disease. Additionally, we are\u00a0having favorable\u00a0environmental conditions for leaf <span id=\"0.4524227319049994\" class=\"highlight\">rust<\/span> development. THEREFORE\u00a0<span id=\"0.5001006378444501\" class=\"highlight\">wheat<\/span> field scouting and monitoring should be\u00a0implemented at this time. If leaf <span id=\"0.1887802561399814\" class=\"highlight\">rust<\/span> is present in your field, this warrants\u00a0a fungicide application. The most effective time for fungicide application is at flag leaf emergence. Applications through heading may be beneficial,\u00a0particularly for control of Stagonospora glume blotch.<\/p>\n<p>For more effective and longer lasting protection a mix of a triazole and strobirulin is suggested.
