For those of you who aren’t paying attention, there will be a total solar eclipse passing from west to east over the continental US on August 21.  There has been a lot written about this event and  many people are planning to go to an area where the sun will be totally hidden by the moon for a few minutes.  Here in Athens GA we will be 99.1 percent covered, which means that a small sliver of sun will still remain visible at the height of the eclipse.  I’ve already written some other blog posts on it and will certainly do more as the date approaches. Today I would like to share this excellent image of where all of the remaining solar eclipses will occur in your lifetime, roughly up to 100 years from now.  The next one in the Southeast will be in 2045.  You can read more at the Washington Post here.
